Malawi Scholarships is a young charity started by me - Erik Grootveld, 50 years old, living in Denmark, employed as a social worker.
Since education is one of the major keys to development i decided in 2012 to start a program for scholarships for talented, impoverished children. Right now, school year 2022, the program supports 111 youngsters at secondary schools (amongst those 1 handicapped girl, born without legs, who attends a secondary boarding school) and 1 male student at the Polytechnic University of Malawi, Blantyre, plus 1 female student at Domasi Teacher Training College .
Since 2018 Malawi Scholarships has been a part of 100pct.org
The selection for the new scholarships is done by the local project coordinator, John Chilinde.

Together with fellow travelers I visit the secondary schools once a year. We will meet with as many students as possible. We also do workshops, for instance about the making of hay or beekeeping. As a donor you will receive a travel report shortly after we have returned. You will also receive several report cards during the year.
As a donor you will have the option to meet the student you sponsor. Malawi Scholarships will be more than happy to help you to arrange the trip and set up a meeting.
NB! although the ratio between travel costs and the sponsorship itself might seem outrageous please remember that every penny you spent during a trip in Malawi will contribute to developing the country. And since Malawi is a beautiful, warm and friendly country why not spend your next holiday there?
